திருமணச் சடங்குகளின் படி தாலி கட்டுதல் முக்கியமானது இந்த சடங்கினை அக்னி சாட்சியாக செய்யாமல் ஆண்டவன்   சாட்சியாக மற்ற சடங்குகளைத் தவிர்த்து செய்தல் கட்டுத்தாலி என்னும் திருமணம் ஆகும். இது மணத் தம்பதிகள் பெரியோர்கள், உறவினர்கள், நண்பர்கள் முன்னிலையில் அர்ச்சகர்கள் அர்ச்சனை செய்து தாலி எடுத்துக்கொடுக்க மணமகன் மணமகளின் கழுத்தில் கட்டுதல் என்பதோடு நிறைவடைகிறது. இதற்கு சட்டப்படி  திருமண பதிவு செய்த சான்றிதழை கோயில் அலுவலத்தில் காட்டி அனுமதி பெறுவது முக்கியம்.

Tying of the Thali or nuptial thread is a paramount rite of a Hindu Wedding. In this service, all other wedding rituals are excluded, and the groom ties the nuptial thread around the neck of the bride in front of the deity instead of the ritual fire. The priest will perform prayers and hand over the nuptial thread to the groom in the presence of the couple’s parents, relatives and friends.
