இந்து மதம் வேதத்தை வேராக கொண்ட விருட்ஷம் (மரம்) ஆகும். இவ் வேத விருஷத்தின் விதை (பீஜம்) பஞ்சாட் சாரம்  ஆகும். அதை கருவாக கொண்டது ஸ்ரீ ருத்ரம்  என்னும்(நமகம் ) மந்திர வேதப்பகுதி, வேதத்தை வேதமாதா என்பார்கள் அறிஞர்கள். அந்த வேத மாதா பரம் பொருளை துதிக்கும் பகுதி (நமகம், நமஸ்காரம் செய்தல் ) ஸ்ரீ ருத்ரம் ஆகும். ஸ்ரீ ருத்ரத்தை கொண்டமையால் யஷுர் வேதம் 4 வேதங்களில் சிறந்ததாகிறது. " ஸர்வேஷு வேதேஷு யஜுஷ்ப்பிரதானம்” ஸ்ரீ ருத்ரம் "ஸ்ர்வ பிராயசித்தம்" "மஹா ஸ்ர்வ பிராயசித்தம்" என்று கூறபபடுகிறது. இந்து மகிமை பொருந்திய ருட்ரத்தால் பூஜை, ஜபம், ஹோமம், அபிஷேகம் செய்யப்படுகிறது. வேதத்தில் வேறு எந்த பகுதிக்கும் இந்த அமைப்பு இல்லை. இச்சிறப்புகளைக் கொண்ட ஸ்ரீ ருத்ராபிஷேகத்தை ஒரு முறை உச்சரித்து    பூஜை, ஜபம், ஹோமம், அபிஷேகம் அற்ச்னைகளைச் செய்வது ஸ்ரீ ருத்ராபிஷேகம் எனப்படும்.

The Vedas are considered the root of Hinduism and the Panchakshara mantra, the seed of the Vedas. The Panchakshara mantra is the embryo of the Sri Rudram (Namakam) mantras. Scholars extol the Vedas as Vedamata or the Mother of all Knowledge. Sri Rudram is the section of the Vedas that pays obeisance to the Almighty. (Namakam as in Namaskaram or obeisance). The Yajur Veda is hailed as the best of the four Vedas since it contains the Sri Rudram. Pooja, Japam, Homam and Abhishegam are performed while chanting the Sri Rudram. No other part of the Vedas has this structure. Rudrabishegam is the ritual of performing Pooja, Japam, Homam and Abhishegam while chanting the Sri Rudram once.
