தை மாதம் உத்தராயணத்தின் முதல் மாதம். உத்திராயணம் தேவர்களுக்கு பகல் பொழுதாகும். நம் முன்னோர்கள் தாங்கள் செய்த புண்ணியத்திற்கு ஏற்ப சொர்க்கம்  முதலிய புண்ணிய லோகங்களை அடைந்திட தை அமாவாசையில் தர்ப்பணம், தானம் முதலியவற்றைச் செய்து வழிபடுவது சிறப்புடையதாகும். தீர்த்த ஸ்நானங்களும் செய்தல் நலம் பயக்கும் என்பது சாஸ்த்திரங்களின் அறிவுறுத்தல் ஆகும்.

• தந்தை / தாய் வழியில் உள்ள மூன்று தலைமுறை மூதாதையர்களுக்கு தர்ப்பணமும், ஆத்மசாந்தி பூஜையும், செய்வதால் அந்த மூதாதையர்களின் ஆசிகளைப்பெறுவார்கள் என்பது நமது சமய நம்பிக்கை.
• மூதாதையர்களுக்குச் செய்யப்படும் இவ்வழிபாடுகளில் முக்கியமானது தை அமாவாசை, ஆடி அமாவாசை மற்றும் புரட்டாசி மாதம் வரும் மஹாளய அமாவாசை. அன்றைய தினங்களில் தர்ப்பணமும், ஆத்மசாந்தி பூஜைகளும் செய்யப்படுகின்றன.
• ஸ்ரீ சிவன் கோயிலில், மறைந்த  உற்றார் உறவினர்களுக்கு தர்ப்பணமும், ஆத்மசாந்தி பூஜை வழிபாடுகளும் செய்ய ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது.

• ஆத்மசாந்தி அர்ச்சனை வழிபாடுகள் காலை 6.00 மணி முதல் மதியம் 1.00 மணி  வரை, மாலை 6.30 மணி முதல் இரவு 9.30 மணி வரை நடைபெறும்.

Thai is the first month of Uttarayanam (the Six-month period when the Sun is seen to move towards the North). Uttarayanam is considered the daytime for Devas (celestial beings). Thai new moon day is ideal for performing Darpanam and charity, so that our ancestors may enter the celestial spheres of Heaven, in accordance with their spiritual merits. Taking a holy bath in water bodies is also deemed beneficial according to the holy scriptures.

• Sri Sivan Temple has made special arrangements for devotees to perform the Thai Amavasai Tharpanam (Oblations), Athmashanthi pooja and other related poojas.

• These services and offerings made to pay homage to ancestors are done particularly on Thai Amavasai, Aadi Amavasai and during Mahalya Patcham which falls in the month of September / October.

• Devotees who are required to perform these rites are encouraged to participate in these oblations for the ancestors (3 generations) and receive their blessings.

• Tharpanam will be conducted between 6.30am and 1.00pm.
• Athmashanthi Archanai will be performed in the morning from 6.00am to 1.00pm and in the evening from 6.30pm to 9.30pm.
