Aadi is the first month of the Dakshinayana period (Six month period from summer to winter). New moon in the month of Aadi day is ideal for taking a dip in the sea and offering Tharpanam to ancestors who are also know as Thenpulathaar, in Tamil. Aadi Amavasai is a special day meant for the worship of ancestors.
