வைகாசி மாதத்தில் வரும் விசாகம் நட்சத்திரம் கூடிய நாள். சிவபெருமானின் வழிபாட்டு நாளாகவும் பல புண்ணிய சேஷத்திரங்களில் பிரும்மோத்ஸவ நாளாகவும் விளங்குகிறது. ஸ்ரீ முருகப்பெருமான் தோன்றிய நாளாகும். ஆகவே முருகனுக்கும் சிறப்பான வழிபாடுகள் நடைபெரும் நாள் வைகாசி விசாகம் ஆகும்.

Vaigasi Visakam is the day of the Visaka nakshatram in the month of Vaigasi. It is a day for the worship of Lord Sivan and the day of Brahmotsavam in many holy sites. Lord Murugan was also born on this day and therefore, special prayers are held for for Lord Murugan on this day. Indran and Agni (Fire) are presiding deities for the star of Visakam. Hence, worship on this day will bring about blessings from Indra (pleasures) and Agni (fire in the form of knowledge).
